OwlMed specialises in the design, development and CE marking of cardiovascular devices, with particular focus on tissue heart valves. Formed in 2002, the company is built on more than 60 years' cumulative experience in tissue valve development.

OwlMed's standard heart valves represent significant advances in tissue implant technology, reducing size mismatch and distortion whilst improving durability, haemodynamic performance and surgical confidence.

The next generation of OwlMed valves will be supported by an instrumented remote monitoring system, which allows GPs, nurses and other practitioners to assess the condition and performance of implanted valves. The company currently has two patents for its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system, which is scheduled for market launch in 2008.
